Rondout Tower operator hands off orders via hoop in the rain to a Canadian Pacific freight heading south into Chicago.
Looking into the Metra station office at Lake Bluff, Illinois. Every station office must always have a clock within view but not all have a red phone. The tracks are reflected in the window from behind me.
The Center for Railroad Photography and Art is an annual event that I have attended the last few years. After the daytime presentations many of the attendees like to socialize. Last year a group of us went into Chicago to photograph the L. Some of the L is underground with beautiful tiled underground stations. As a train approached the platform, I asked this stranger if she would mind standing on the bench and strike a some what dramatic pose. Her outfit was fitting for that particular stop. A short conversation with her showed that she was having a bad day and was just stood up for the night so this short lived model gig brightened her night slightly.
