No. 5819 - Wisconsin Northern - Chippewa Falls, Wis.

The start of the sand boom in northern Wisconsin exploded and the railroads used anything they could to start hauling it. This Union Pacific train was just handed off to the Wisconsin Northern at Chippewa Falls and doesn't waste anytime heading north with old steel open top hoppers. Eventually strings of new short covered hoppers will start replacing the open top hoppers and gondolas. The EOG plant is under construction on the right.
